PTSA Math Committee

Math Committee to Take a New Direction

These past two years, a group of over 50 Shorecrest PTSA members/parents, took their concerns regarding the math curriculum to the school, the school board and to our PTSA. Parents teachers and administrators formed a committee that brought new curriculum to our district. In the end all parties on the MAT (math assessment team) committee agreed unanimously on the Prentice Hall curriculum! It seems to satisfy folks on both sides of the math reform debate.

The work however, is not yet done. With I-728 funding lost... the classroom sizes are the same or bigger and the after-school support money is meager. Please help us find ways to support math excellence at Shorecrest: support a math club, tutor at homework club or on Wednesday Math Nights, take a field trip to the UW Math Fair this Spring, help write grants to support after-school tutoring, and or bring your ideas to the table, as they are most welcome!
